What’s included, and is the entrance ticket/port fee covered?
Every Trekker tour includes a bilingual guide (English and Spanish) and full safety measures, including life jackets. Entrance and tourist fees are included on selected tours. Each tour page has a clear “What’s included” list, so you know exactly what you’re paying for before you book.
How long is the tour and what time does it start?
Our Ballestas Islands boat tour takes about 2 hours, and our full-day Paracas tour lasts around 6 hours. Our first departure is at 8:00 AM. Please arrive a few minutes early to check in. Morning departures usually get the calmest seas, so we recommend booking the earliest slot.
What happens if the sea is rough? What’s your cancellation policy?
Your safety always comes first. If conditions aren’t right for the boat, we’ll offer alternatives so you don’t lose the experience, such as extra stops when the sea allows it. If the trip can’t go ahead because of natural conditions, you can cancel at no cost. Rough seas are more likely in winter, so if the islands are the main reason for your visit, we suggest leaving a spare day in your plans.
What should I bring? Will I get wet?
- Ballestas Islands tour: comfortable clothes, a windproof layer (it gets breezy on the water), sunscreen, sunglasses and a camera. You may get a little sea spray, so a change of clothes is handy. If you get seasick easily, take your medication before boarding.
- Full-day tour: everything above, plus a swimsuit and a towel.
Can I walk on the islands or swim with the sea lions?
No. The Ballestas Islands are a protected reserve, and staying on the boat keeps you and the wildlife safe. You’ll still get remarkably close to sea lions, penguins and seabirds. Want a swim? On our full-day Paracas tour you can take a dip at selected beach spots inside the Paracas National Reserve. The Pacific here is cool all year, so be ready for a refreshing splash.
